small steps on the way. . .

the conference call happened, though not without some technical snags. the five of us, oldfart, bala tzk321, chainsaw willie! and i launched the first portal podcast conference.  just prior to the call i fired up the five or so pieces of needed software on my mac and did some tests. i wanted to make sure that i could record the call and have a decent sound. there is a saying in the music world that says a bad dress rehearsal means a good concert. in this case it went the other way: my tests went perfectly, and i clearly heard the test voice of the skype software. unfortunately, when i began the real conference call, everyone could hear everyone except for me; i could hear no one at all. i ended up closing the recording software and just running the conference call.  it was only later that i realized even my computer could hear everyone-->it had recorded everyone's voices without letting me hear them. . .  :o

aside from that it was a great call. it was fun to hear some voices from my american comrades, and we made some helpful decisions about the various elements that will be a part of the podcast. our next conference call is slated for 11 am EST on the 9th of august. we are hoping that there will be someone across the pond that will be willing to roll up his/her sleeves and join our efforts to make an interesting podcast that will entertain and edify the members of the portal community.
